Be Yourself, That’s Enough

We have a real struggle today of not comparing ourselves to everyone else, don’t we? With everyone putting their lives on display through social media, it can be hard not to fixate on what others have; especially when they are things you are either lacking or want yourself. I know what that’s like because I’ve struggled with that myself. So, I want to encourage you today by reminding you that God has your best interest at heart and that He has good things in store for you. Just because you feel like you might be lacking or missing out now, doesn’t mean it will be that way forever. Maybe God just wants to show you how you’ve been fixating on the wrong things, when you should be keeping your eyes on Him.

The last thing you ever want to do is become jealous or resentful or someone else, as it doesn’t do anything good for you (see James 3:14-16). Instead, be grateful for all you do have, rather than focusing on what you don’t. Remember that God gave you what you have, you didn’t do it yourself. And He expects you to be a good steward with it; no matter how big or small those blessings might be. I mean hey, you’re still blessed! If you ever find yourself getting jealous of someone else, pray that God would help you see things His way and to help you choose to be thankful for the blessings in yours and other’s lives. That shows maturity and it also shows thankfulness to God for all He has done for you.
